An officer from the Wilton Police Department who was conducting surveillance for impaired drivers stopped Stamford resident Christopher Cole, 30, on Belden Hill Road when he was spotted speeding.
During the subsequent stop, police said that while speaking with Cole, he was “slurring his speech and his eyes were glassy.” Cole proceeded to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, and he was taken into custody. A breathalyzer test recorded his blood alcohol content at .068 percent at the time of his arrest.
Cole was charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence and cited for speeding. He has since been released on $260 bond. Cole is due back in Norwalk Superior Court on Thursday, Sept. 13 to answer the charge.
